The Grey Gull - Ocean Shores, Washington

About

The Grey Gull

Privately Owned Units

These are not your typical hotel rooms. The units at the Grey Gull have owners and thus each room is decorated differently which makes them charmingly unique. Every unit faces west out to the ocean where you'll find a porch or balcony where you can watch the sunset or keep an eye on the pool and hot tub. Every unit has a clean burning gas fireplace, free wifi internet access, cable television, and DVD. The kitchens are complete with an oven and stove, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, dishes, glasses, and of course flatware, as well as various cooking utensils. With a large variety of room types which include everything from king size beds to queen sized pullouts, The Grey Gull can provide a comfortable environment for any pull out size.

Facility and Grounds

The ocean side Grey Gull resort is a short walk through scenic sand dunes to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Your four legged family will enjoy frolicking on the beach and playing in the surf. If swimming in the Pacific doesn't float your boat, you are always welcome to take a dip in the only outdoor pool in Ocean Shores. The year round pool (weather permitting) is heated to a comfortable 80 degrees and cleaned daily. Our outdoor hot tub offers some more heat with relaxing jets and bubbles. At any time you could also make your way through the Fireside Room to the sauna.

We have a bookshelf filled to the brim with videos, movies and childrens programs, as well as board games available free of charge. Rain or shine, morning or evening, there is always something to do.

Staff

Our desk is attended from 8 am to 9 pm daily. A full compliment of housekeepers will be on hand to attend to your needs and do the tidying of your room during your stay.

Ocean Shores

Location and History

Ocean Shores has a rich history of sailing ships, cattle ranching and of being a Hollywood resort and golf course destination spot. The Pacific Ocean on the west, Grays Harbor on the east, and canals and lakes in between add to the water and recreational draw for tourists, fishermen, boaters and residents. Wild life abounds – bird watching, whale watching and deer to name a few and the flora and fauna and star gazing are spectacular. The local pass times include beach combing, razor clam digging and storm watching.

Travel to us via city transit, boat, private auto or fly into the municipal airport.

The Grey Gull opened in 1969, built and designed as a beach lodge; it has always been a condominium facility that operates as a motel. World famous architect Ralph Anderson captured the elements with open beams, large log columns and brick fireplaces – decks and view balconies to take in the beauty of the coast line.

Activities

Beach

The six-mile beach is inviting for walking, beach combing, kite flying, horseback-riding and razor clam digging in season. Sections of the beach are automobile friendly so you can drive up, rent dune buggies, mopeds and bicycles or see the sights on horseback. Enjoy fishing, jet-skiing, and other fresh water sports like surfing and skim boarding. At the ocean's edge, surf casting challenges the hardy. At night campfires keep you warm while you gaze at the stars.

Inland

Schedule a tee time at our PGA-rated 18-hole golf course. For the junior players, Ocean Shores has miniature golf, as well as arcades, bumper cars, and go-carts.

Spend some time perusing the variety of fine shops in Ocean Shores.  Grays Harbor is also the home to the Lady Washington aka “The Black Pearl” from Pirates of The Caribbean.

Nature enthusiasts can visit the rain forest and the oldest living trees on the Washington Coast, or explore the maze of fresh water canals leading to Duck Lake - a bird watcher's paradise.

If you desire, you can fly in on the bay side to the 2,700 foot, lighted runway at the Ocean Shores airport. Within 30 minutes you could be ordering a fillet mingon or winning some spending cash at the Quinault Beach Resort & Casino.

If you'd like to find a place of your own you can tour homes with a realtor and view the local offerings, or just come back to your room and relax in a comfortable armchair by a cozy fireplace
