Whale Watching At Ocean Shores Resorts

Grey Gull Resort is located in the heart of Washington's finest resort community. Ocean Shores is a short, scenic drive from Seattle or Portland. There are plenty of things to do in Ocean Shores, WA such as golf, beach activities, and antiquing. The most popular springtime activity though is right around the corner.

During the months of March and April, the Washington coast becomes a hotbed of whale action. Marking the annual migration past our shores for the estimated 18,000 Gray Whales that make the journey up and down the Pacific Coast each year. Weighing up to 80,000 pounds and measuring 49 feet in length, gray whales can live up to 70 years. They feed on amphipods, a tiny shrimp-like animal that lives in the sediment of the ocean floor. Thanks to their large size, gray whales can be seen from the numerous vantage points along the Whale Trail, which are marked by signs and informational displays.  If they're close to shore, there's nothing like hearing the giant hiss of water.

During the Spring Ocean Shores is a hotspot for tourism featuring a lot of activities and events held to welcome the whales into town. The Grey Gull Resort is the perfect location for all that an Ocean Shores Resorts has to offer. With an amazing scenic location we are close to town, golfing, and beaches. So while we don't have a whale-watching program on our facility we are close to all services. You will experience plenty of whale watching in Ocean Shores but you will also experience, fishing, clamming, hiking trails, and sightseeing galore.
